Killian Hill Christian School (KHCS), as a ministry of Killian Hill Baptist Church (KHBC), exists to assist parents in their God-given responsibility of educating their young people by providing a high-quality spiritual and academic program, enhanced by balanced fine arts and athletics while encouraging and motivating them to live disciplined, Christ-centered lives. KHCS operates under a governance structure that emphasizes a partnership between its School Board and the Head of School, reflecting its identity as a ministry of KHBC.

School Board: The KHCS School Board is composed of members from KHBC. Its primary responsibilities are strategic and oversight in nature, ensuring the school’s long-term health and adherence to its mission. Key functions of the Board include:

  • Mission Stewardship: Safeguarding the school’s spiritual and academic values.
  • Strategic Direction: Guiding the school in accordance with its strategic plan and sound financial principles.
  • Sustainability: Ensuring the ongoing viability and affordability of KHCS for future families.
  • Head of School Management: Recruiting, evaluating, and supporting the Head of School.
  • Philanthropic Advancement: Leading and promoting fundraising efforts to support the growth of KHCS.

Head of School: The Head of School is responsible for the day-to-day operations and instructional leadership of KHCS. This role involves leading an administrative team to manage various aspects of the school, including:

  • Enrollment Management: Overseeing admissions, enrollment, and reenrollment processes.
  • Curriculum Implementation: Ensuring a biblically grounded and academically rigorous curriculum.
  • Staff Development: Hiring, mentoring, and developing Godly faculty and staff.
  • Student Discipline: Addressing student discipline issues with wisdom and compassion.
  • Parent Engagement: Partnering with parents to fulfill the school’s mission.

In essence, the School Board is responsible for setting the vision and policies, while the Head of School is tasked with executing these policies to foster a thriving school culture and ensure student success. This collaborative approach aims to maintain KHCS as a beneficial institution for present and future generations.
