Sharing Christmas Cheer
It has become a tradition. Each year in December the second grade class and the senior class team up to share Christmas cheer to the residents at the Life Care Center of Gwinnett. Loading two busses on Wed. Dec. 7th students and parents, Ministry Team, three teachers, Mr. Bramblett and Mr. Evens visited the home singing and sharing gifts! After this initial time of music, some of the groups stayed and mingled with the residents there while other small groups walked around to the residents' rooms, singing and giving out handmade cards and stuffed animals. Just two days before several moms got together to assemble 175 mugs with Christmas goodies to give to the workers. This yearly ministry takes many hands helping! After gathering again in the Dining Hall for some closing songs, the group ended with "We Wish You a Merry Christmas" echoing down the hallway as they exited.
Mr. Dan Deffendall, administrator at the Center, meets the group at the door to give some basic instructions. Through his willingness to coordinate KHCS is able to visit each year. The group began by singing Christmas songs in the Dining Hall where some of the residents were gathered. Several senior guys read portions of Luke, chapter 2, with carols being sung in between the readings. An instrumental ensemble played and the 2nd graders sang a selection from their upcoming Christmas program.
